    Re: Realistic Knife Defence

I don’t what Pekiti group these guys are from but the video explains pretty well what your question is. I think you will see some similarities to the KM 360 defense.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN7CydJqGRk

And back to the Stick Sparring…. A lot of the techniques you see in Pekiti are meant to be with a blade. When stick sparring those techniques do not work because a quick slash to the arm with a stick really doesn’t do much….. Replace the stick with the blade and that slash to the hand or arm could be the end of the fight.

If you spar with the stick and treat it as if it were a blade, then you will see more technique applied because you can’t afford to get hit once anywhere. You become a little less brave and not willing to eat 1 strike to deliver 2.

    Take care

    quote leejam99:

have you seen real stick fighting or real sparring with full speed? they don’t move like the people in this demo… its more of a gross movement of big swings. google dog brothers as see some of their videos and see how people work when its for real. You will rarely see if any type of flowing trapping movement like they do in these demos.

If you know what you are looking for you will see these “drills” come out in sparring. Marc Denny (Crafty Dog) actually talks about that a lot. As a matter of fact the founding members of the Dog Brothers all come from a heavy Pekiti Tirsia background.

Pekiti Tirsia is mainly a blade system and also has a highly developed empty hand system as well. (Filipino Dumpag)

    Re: Keysi Fighting Method

I don’t have a hate for them personally… It is just as I said in my first post about them, that they lie about the history of it.

I don’t have respect for people who train with someone, or train in a particular style and then say that it was completely created by themselves through street fights.

If they came out with the truth and said that it is an FMA based style I would have respect for them.

In and out of prison? I gotta get a marketing team like they have.

    Re: Keysi Fighting Method

    My problem with Keysi.

The creators completely lie about the history of the style…claim that it was born on the streets of spain on the one creators b-day… I guess they won’t mention there training with Dan Inosanto. Anyone that knows Filipino Martial Arts can clearly see that in there movements. It has alot of similarities to Pangamut or Panantukan which is the empty hands in most Kali styles. Although Keysi goes a little heavy on the elbow entries which would not be to good if a weapon is involved… maybe that is where the protective suit would come in handy 🙂

There whole marketing strategy is to say that it’s the style used by a comic book superhero.

I get a monthly email asking if I want to do a seminar and become an instrucor in the style Christian Bale says is a highly effective combat art….What does he know about highly effective combat arts?

KFM is just another money making art capitilizing on ignorance.

Re: Non english movies based on KM

It seems every week there is a new question about KM in movies. KM does not have any completely unique techniques to say…Thats Krav. I mean every movie that you see a basic right cross or groin kick can be Krav.

I can name quite a few styles that attack while defending simutaneously(spelling). And that have the same or similar weapon disarms.

Re: Combative Edges new fixed blade.. WICKED!

This knife will be available within the next 6 months. It will also be available with a Cord wrapped handle, and the smaller Folder in this model is getting worked on now.

Combative Edge has made alot of progress in this past year and were just about ready to go live. The site is not complete yet. There will be more knives up soon as well as some other products like the Tactical Pens.. Great for carrying during travel, and they write great!

Thank you again, and please feel free to contact me for any more info.

Re: Whats the difference between ìHuman Weaponî and ìFight Questî

Fight Quest Was actually filmed before Human Weapon. Human Weapon just aired much faster.

    Ok… Since I was called 😆

Here are my thoughts on the Shock knife

I think it is a great idea for giving you more respect and fear when training…….However, it can also lead to very bad habits…..

Example… Getting shocked does not feel like getting cut. With the shock knife getting hit in a non lethal area of the body may hurt and train your mind to stop fighting where in reality that wound would just be a few stitches. You hear all the time of people getting stabbed numerous times and survivng. With the shock knife, even touching it gives you a shock, where again in reality you know at some point there will be contact but not enough to take you out.

So… I feel that it has it’s benefits, but could POSSIBLY lead to some bad
    habits if not used properly.

First of all, I would never point a gun at someone without them checking it.

I was brief with my statment, but I guess I should have been more clear.
If you are going to train with a real gun then absolutely check, double check, even triple check it. …Then I really don’t know what the problem would be.

As far as the fear aspect, how can you not see that creating fear while training adds to the training?
