quote \”MBlitz\:FYI:KMLI on Long Island charges $130/month for unlimited training (there are over 65 classes per month). Members also can take the grappling and power-punch classes as part of their membership.
Wish I could get that down here in VA. 2 classes a week is all my school offered and many times those were cancelled so the instructor could focus on the TKD classes he taught. I paid $125/month for a 6 month contract and didn’t resign. Looking for new school in Hampton Roads area if anyone knows of anything decent.
September 9, 2007 at 2:56 am #56191jfoxMemberWow… lots of stuff we didn’t go over… I feel jipped now.
September 9, 2007 at 2:54 am #56190jfoxMemberI get that all the time. I feel like I am running a whole class at work sometimes. Helps me keep good at it though.
September 3, 2007 at 10:09 pm #56055jfoxMemberI just finished my last Krav class at an ATA school. I am looking for somewhere else to train in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. I took classes at this school for a little over 6 months and decided after my last one this week, not to renew my contract. It was a really hard decision, because I love the art. I feel though that the focus at this school is not on Krav, it is on their main program (ATA). The instructor is a great instructor, but not worth me paying another grand or so for another 6 months of being \”second\”… I am not sure if I will ever be suckered into another 6 month contract and therefore may not get the opportunity to advance in Krav.
BTW: Hello all those that remember me, sorry for not posting recently!
June 22, 2007 at 12:01 am #54285jfoxMemberMy instructor uses Bas to wear us down at the start of class. Just some classes (maybe every 4th class) to work on endurance. he will usually join us working out or go change the clothes (Gi) he was wearing during the previous class. I don’t really mind either way.
June 19, 2007 at 12:15 am #54198jfoxMemberGiantkiller nailed it. Make sure that they teach past level 1. It seriously sucks to get comfortable somewhere just to have to find somewhere else when your ready to test. Not to mention that level 1 only schools really don’t teach you everything you need to know in the correct formats for testing (b/c they aren’t planning on you testing at all).
Mike nailed the contract. Never fall for this b/s. There are a lot of reputable schools that don’t force a contract.
Good luck to you.
May 31, 2007 at 1:59 am #53767jfoxMemberThank you for the informative post Sam.
May 24, 2007 at 2:20 am #53688jfoxMemberThanks, I will retry website to see what else is on their schedule. Sounds good for seminars- I don’t mind driving for a one or two day seminar. Thanks for the heads up Mike.
May 23, 2007 at 5:56 pm #53681jfoxMemberThats about a 3.5 hour drive one way… a little too far for me on a regular basis. But if Im ever up there, I will stop in. Website is having some issues right now, says \”technical difficulties\”, but I will check it out!
May 22, 2007 at 7:39 pm #53672jfoxMemberSouth-East Virginia. Hampton Roads Area. I have friends in the Manasas area though. Great place up there.
May 21, 2007 at 10:46 pm #53661jfoxMemberRyan, I am not sure how the LE series works… what are the pre-req’s before you can get the LE Series 1? I am in Virginia and would love to come, but I am only a Level 1 and am afraid I probably don’t qualify. I would like to know though so that in the future I can come down.

May 21, 2007 at 10:37 pm #53660jfoxMemberI definitely feel like I am getting ripped off now, thanks. I am paying over 100 a month… 6 month contract… two classes per week… 45 minutes each class…. had to buy certain overpriced gear from school… no testing options (Level 1 school only)… no fitness/krav package deals… and above all else, I have yet to get through any particular portion of the curriculum before someone new joins and we all end up at square 1.
I wish I had a couple of other schools to look at down here in VA. There is one other school just out of convenient driving range…
May 20, 2007 at 4:27 am #53632jfoxMemberThats quite a difference in professions Canuck! Good for you though, your doing what you want to do with your life.
I am in Law Enforcement, and I can see a 100% improvement in my abilities to protect myself before resorting to my weapons. That alone boosts a persons confidence and in my case allows me to do my job better and safer.
And practicing 2-3 times per week gives me something to look foward to. I wasn’t the most active person before, but Krav inspired me to change that. My social circle so to speak has grown with my peers from class and on boards such as this one.
I can’t claim that Krav has totally changed my life, but it has had a positive impact on it. And in a short period of time too.
May 19, 2007 at 4:54 am #53620jfoxMemberNot too long ago I posted about this very same article (as a newbie to Krav who was just interested and un-informed). I wasn’t given these answers or explanations… that particular portion of my post was just deleted with an apology…
I can see the attack now, but back then, deleting it w/o much of an explanation or comment didn’t make much of a case for KMAA. I almost gave up on Krav all together after that because I wasn’t sure what I was getting into at that point!
Glad I stuck with it though, I can see now that the article in question was definately a one sided attack with an agenda unfavorable to Mr. Levine.

This was the first I have heard of this… I just got back from Mexico. This situation disgusts me, all of those people standing right there watching this elderly man be assualted so viscously… Every one of them should be locked up with the suspect.
