Re: 360 defense vs overhead stab, wrapping vs control of stabbing hand

    hello ppl.

Really, you¥re still teaching que control of the arm, on the ice-pick attack? It¥s very difficult, almost impossible, if anyone, stabs more than once, like in real life.
If the attacker, attack only once(not realistic) it is very easy to control, but once more, an illusion.

On the oriental attack, the control it¥s easier and possible, but ont the ice-pick…hum…don¥t believe it.

Nowadays, we are training in my place, to only block(maintain the block 90?) and counter-attack as much as possible, and run, no control, no disarm..

    What do you think?

Re: 360 defense vs overhead stab, wrapping vs control of stabbing hand

    Hello people.

Recently trained with Gaby Noah, and he defends that is very difficult, almost impossible, to control a vicious ice pick attack, the best solution is to keep, the Block(360?) and counter as much as you can, wrap, control, is almost impossible, anyone who trys to control in a full force attack, will notice that.

    Best Regards 🙂

    Re: Left Hook Punch

    Hello once again.

Nice perspectives about the Hook 🙂

So i¥ve been training more the Hook(left), and giving it special attencion.

    Some problems:

    * When my hand hit¥s the bag, the first thing that touches the bag are the Knuckles on the middle of the fingers(pain!) not the Knuckles on the top of the fingers, like it should be. Remember i am doing the Hook.Pinky down, not forward.

    * i¥ve noticed that beside the punch, my right hand, is much more stronger, and
tolerable to pain(obvious reasons, more training, my strong hand, etc..)

I know that some people, can clinch better the fist, and the fingers, so they can easily, touch with the top knuckles.

So i am a bit confused about what to do with my left Hook.

On the pivot: I¥ve always been taught to pivot, i will try to deliver the punch without it, to see the diferences..

Another question, why doing the pivot, increases the risk of a Takedown?

    Thank u all

    Re: Left Hook Punch

    Sorry ppl.

But with or withour pivot, i cant do the left hook punch properly.

The pinky is down, the distance is short, the elbow is on the line with the fist…

    Re: Long knife/sword defense techniques

Sorry, but in my humble opinion, that stick defense, in a manchete attack is suicidal…
i¥am sure that if exists a defense, it can¥t be that one, too many risks…

Question for the blackbelts or someone who knows.

Does exist a defense against this type of attack?

I think it was good for us to Know =)

    Re: Reacting to Insult

Yes, I totally agree with you.

But sometimes, is very dificult for me, to accept that.Because I am the kind of person, who thinks a lot about things. And After an altercation or some hard discussion, I waste a lot of my time thinking about the problem.I don¥t know if it is a common reaction for everybody, but sometimes i get tired of this way off dealing with problems, and I¥m afraid, that with the time my GO switch button, turns ON more easily.I hope you understand what i am trying to say.

I don¥t know if it is EGO or my Pride, but i¥ve this stupid felling, of if i turn my back to the problem it¥s cowardy, fear…

    P.S : I¥m not a Teenager 🙂

    Re: Reacting to Insult

“The old “sticks and stones” motto comes to mind” what is that motto?

You know, sometimes it is difficult to “swallow” some insults, but I think that the best thing to do, is just smile and go. Because, for me and for my Krav-Maga, words don¥t press the Go button. I don¥t know if i am right, some people, with just a “**** you”, start a fight. I don¥t know what is the best atitude, that¥s why I sarted this Thread.

    no no.

Pontual situations that we have trough our lives. As you know “first shot” is always an advantage, but i wonder if we should react to insult, after all words don¥t hurt (phisically), what do you people think?
