    Re: NTC Shop

Was there any talk of doing the “dry fast” KM shirt again? The one similar to the Underarmor? Gets really hot in the t-shirt.

Re: Most popular guns for criminals

I see some reports–when the media actually reports on the gun–that say it is a “small caliber” gun. Often times it seems to be a .25–making it a short barrel. Little ones conceal better for them–right in a pocket.

I had the same thought when I was taking the Gun Defense seminar. “hmmm,” thinks I. “not all are going to have that nice long barrel.” 🙂

    Re: uniforms

I love the pants! Cuts down on shaving. 😉 We are wearing the KM t/s. I don’t feel like a dork, really–I like it. Just wish there was an “underarmor” version of the shirt–the t/s gets soaked and takes forever to dry.

I have taken to wearing some shorts, but they are adidas, not KM. That’s because of the knee brace. I’d love some KM shorts, but don’t see any in the “official” shop.

Re: Starting KM training next week, any tips?

$100 a month? Jump on it. I’m paying $112 and that’s with an employer discount.

    Re: Ways to fight exhaustion

Some of the more experienced people will give you a better answer…but I can tell you that it takes time to build up the endurance. Being very strong means nothing; it doesn’t translate to endurance.

A couple of times we have done 4 minutes “freestyle” against a pad–I’m beat by minute 3. I can make 4, but my performance suffers.

When you go to the gym, you can start to work on your endurance.

Water. Keep hydrated, not just before your workout. All the time.

    Re: (Lack of) Speed Kills?

There’s a saying: “smooth is fast and fast is smooth”.

Practice your techniques so that you are smooth. Go only as fast as you can do the technique perfectly/correctly. Speed will come if you keep at it.

    Re: workout outline

You can also check out the Everything Book for Krav Maga. It has some workouts in it.

    Re: The price you pay

I get a discount because of my employer, so I am paying $112 per month for KM at the ATA school. If I went to all three classes per week, it’d be like 10 bucks a class. Good price for me. It’s $28 per class if I go to just one a week. I can still afford it.

    17. Now that’s pathetic.

Re: Is This Indicitive Of ATA

It wouldn’t be so bad if the school called it what it is: a Krav Maga workout. That’s a more apt term. Nothing wrong with a nice workout, either. But they should call a spade a spade.

It takes me about 25 minutes to get there, and I can get cardio 5 minutes from my house now, on MY schedule. That’s why it’s going to one night a week. If I have a Saturday off, I’ll go to that one, too, since it’s in the morning.

At least I have my little wavemaster in the back yard that I can use. When it gives me lip, I just go over and beat the crap out of it. 🙂

I am not giving up on Krav. I like the system, but it looks as if I will have to wait for a school around here to offer the real thing. Til then, I guess I am on my own.

Re: Is This Indicitive Of ATA

I am not going to stop going, as I am in it for 11 months. I have 6 more months to go, and I won’t be re-enrolling. BUT–I do like being able to get a work out AND be able to hit something full force (if I am able). I am just going to have to get some stuff elsewhere. I have just joined the Lifestyle Family Fitness (in the new mall in Winter Garden). I can get my strength training and cardio, both of which I badly need. BTW–I did their “Bodycombat” class (think tae bo) yesterday and got my butt kicked. Very intense and boy, am I sore today! Great workout, worse than Krav (at my school) as far as huffing and puffing.

I said it was an ATA school ’cause I didn’t know if I should ID the “chain” it was. 🙂

Re: Gun fans and bored Lawyers

I hope there is good news about this. It’s really just ridiculous to have our capital banning people from excercising a Constitutional right.

Re: Is anyone selling any instructional dvd’s?

I did the netflix thing. Then I started buying the individual ones on amazon. I found a couple that were used, and got a decent price. I am only one short, and will add that one soon.

Re: Gun fans and bored Lawyers

It’s not about carrying handguns. It’s about the right to KEEP arms (not just handguns)in the home. BEARING arms is not in this fight.
