Hi Everyone,
My name is Ara Rostamian and I am from Montrose, CA. I have studied Thai Boxing and Boxing for 9 years as well as Kendo/Iaido/ Western Fencing for 3 years. I just joined Krav Maga World Wide in Studio City, CA a few days ago. First class got me winded with the intense warm ups… it was truly a fun and educational experience. I plan to test for my yellow and orange belt hopefully by the end of 2010 or early 2011. I hope to one day own and operate a self defense, fitness and fighting school by the time I am 30 years old. I am 25 years old right now. I look forward to learning and teaching all I can with all of you, talk to you all soon.

Welcome Ara!
Congrats on coming over to KM! Have a blast, enjoy the journey and don’t feel pressured at all to test before you’re ready. You’ll know when the time is right:wav:

Hi Everyone! My name is America and I just signed up for Krav Maga in Santa Monica. I’m very excited but I also feel like I don’t belong.I had my first day of class yesterday and those other girls kick a$$! I felt so weak even though I’m bigger than them. I have a lot of stress to release so if anything that’ll help get my butt into gear.I think i’m going to have a harder time changing my eating habits. Anyway, I look forward to meeting new ppl and getting my lazy butt into shape.

Welcome to the forum!
Don’t feel bad. I’ve yet to know anyone who took their first KM class and didn’t get winded or felt like ‘WTH am I doing here’ afterwards’. Lord knows it happened to hubby and I when we started all those years ago.rofl2
You’re not there for everyone else. You’re there for yourself. If you have to slow down, big whoop. I lost count how many times I had to stop, take a break, got sick, etc, and started up all over again. I’m like that now with hubby and I being sick the last few weeks.
If you put the time in, it will get easier. :wav:

:wav:Hey Everyone!
My name is Betsy, I started Krav in Jan down in San Antonio, loved it! Shout out the folks out there, I miss you guys!! Bottom line, it changed my life and in turn I took charge of my life again. Thanks for everything!
I moved to CO out in the woods, finally getting settled in. The training center is far away, so I hope to make it once a week, in the meantime, I continue to practice at home. So I look foward to meeting the folks at the center here!

Hello I have been training in krav for about 2 years , I have a back round in boxing ( 9 years ) but have also always trained in fairbairn and sykes “get tough ” throughout my boxing training . I am trying to make a few youtube videos with my wife about ladies self defence . I would like some feed back on them. ( wife has roughly 5 months once a week training in krav ) i want to keep the videos simple as they are mostly for my wife and her friends to learn from .
take it easy on me though i already know the camera work and location are not the best i will be sorting that out , just some advice on the moves and generally how you rate my explanation etc .
take a look at a few of my videos on youtube , new to the whole camera thing but the moves are basic and solid .
“get tough ” the fairbairn and sykes book is excellent

Just a heads up, I don’t think you will get much positive support here because the gun disarms you demonstrated are Commando Krav Maga (CKM). With that, I would offer the following:
First, you should explain, and demonstrate, that the techniques work equally well in either direction with either hand deflecting the gun and line of fire. Make the point that if someone is standing next or close to you on one side, you can do the disarm to the opposite side and avoid possible injury to a relative or innocent bystander.
Also, after you have effectively disarmed the attacker and the gun is in your hand, you should immediately palm heel (or punch) the attacker in the face. This should stun him long enough for you to gain distance.
Also, explain that you should try to gain as much distance as possible (hopefully 20 feet or more) from the attacker as you order him to the ground.
