I work in breast cancer research, and I must tell you that as much as it saddens me that Marni was lost to it, I only hope that it will encourage more people to get involved. Sadly, it is still seriously underfunded. 🙁

My best to you and your family, and here’s to hoping for a cure.

I have only been doing Krav since the end of March, but in that time I realized that I am a lot calmer. I accept things that are out of my control a little better, and I rely on it as a stress reliever. If I can’t go to class (I usually go 5-6 times a week between kick fit and basic training), I feel moody and restless and miss it.

I’ve also lost 5 inches on each of my thighs, 4 on my waist, 2.5 on my hips, and 2 on my arms. (Man, okay, I can only imagine the mental picture you all have of me right now.. lol). I have a long way to go still, but Krav has helped me to stay focused on my goals, and the people that go are such a motivating force for me as well.

    Thanks for the responses, guys.

rpagliaro- The guy told me that my school usually orders through them, so I could ask the school to order some in their seasonal purchase so that I didn’t have to pay shipping, so I may do that..but I don’t want to ask them about ordering it there’s no way I can wear the stuff. $10 for shipping is just ridiculous- there’s no reason for it to cost that much!!

MaskedKat- If XS is a 4-6 for you, it will probably end up that the XL’s are about a 14/16, depending on the item. I guess I’m going to hold off on trying to order something until I get smaller (shouldn’t take too long!). Thanks for the help! 🙂

I would KILL for something in a v-neck. I don’t know about you guys, but those crew neck t-shirts are always practically strangling me by the time we’re moving around. I’ve never liked crew necks anyways.

What about Krav capri’s or gaucho’s for women? Those would be nice. Especially since I wear a size 18- no shorts for me, thanks! lol

vwr32- I am concerned about the weight loss numbers you’re posting. Seriously.. 10lbs in a week is not safe or healthy. Is this the first week that you’ve started trying to really cut down? If so..you might be okay and it will slow down, but it always concerns me when I see numbers like that.

Just be careful- the last thing you want to do is compromise your metabolism and mess up your body later. Weight loss like that tells me you may not be eating enough, and your body won’t enjoy that and go into starvation mode.

Trust me on this one..I’ve been working on losing weight for awhile. I’ve lost almost 60lbs so far and had to deal with a plateau for a brief time because I wasn’t eating enough to lose (figure that one out, right? lol).

Anyway, that’s just my .02 cents. Good luck with the supplement situation.

Maybe I am too new at this to really understand the issue…but aren’t red/brown and red/black half belts? It would seem to be that half belts at the lower level would make just as much sense as the upper belts. If you don’t have the fundamentals then you can’t advance (says the single-striped white belt..lol).

I can understand the frustration with fees, and if the National Center doesn’t require them, why people might get upset about it…however, it seems to make sense in the grand scheme of things.

Although- I’d think that if you were requiring half belts at every level that some of the cost of the belts and the tests would be added into your monthly fee, as it could get really out of hand.

As for the mixed age levels…I’m sure that some of the kids in my class are as young as 16, but really, it takes all kinds to do this…and if you’re flipping them around the mat like rag dolls then maybe you should tone it down a bit. 😉

    Just my $.02.

Ahh…Pendleton. I know exactly where that is. I grew up in Lockport. (ick, I know!).

I’m jealous you are in Florida!! I lived in Charlotte, NC for a couple of years while I taught high school, but moved back up here for some odd reason. lol I miss being down South.

I pay $115 a month for unlimited Krav and fitness classes. I’m only a white belt, so I guess it goes up as you move up the ranking. I signed up for a 6 month deal, and put $95 down when I signed up.

We definitely get our money’s worth though! My roommate and I go Monday through Saturday and love every second.

Not sure if there are testing fees though. Haven’t gotten there yet.
