Krav was never mentioned in the movie, though I believe the trainer was wearing a logo shirt, shown very briefly (just the circle logo, no words).
The only place that Krav is specifically mentioned is in the DVD notes, in the chapter listings — the scene where JLo is training is called \”Krav Maga.\”
Is this sad that I know this much?? 😛 It’s only because I rented the movie specifically to check out the Krav in it. Yeah, that’s it. 😉
I’ve found that, when \”recruiting\” friends to come check out KM, many people are surprised by the cost per month. I never quite understand why people expect the monthly fee to be cheap. You’re paying to learn a skill, not just for access to gym equipment, and you are always in the presence of one or more instructors, who not only impart knowledge but motivate you to keep going. That, to me, is worth quite a lot.
Besides, what price can you put on the ability to save your own life?

She’s a chef on the Food Network. I don’t watch her shows, but I believe her \”thing\” is quick and easy recipes. I guess both popcorn and energy bars are pretty quick and easy!

The only times I have ever been told I had to have something was when we all had to have shin guards for level 2 and then all the appropriate gear for fight class. I know selling tons of clothes is good for the school financially, but they don’t push stuff on us. People wear whatever they want to class; there’s no rules. If anything I wish there *were* rules — about wearing pants over shinguards and also about washing your clothes regularly. 😉
Erika Eleniak was on Baywatch in the late 80’s/early 90’s. She hasn’t done much else besides posing in Playboy a bunch of times.
I think it comes across in the clip that the real students and the teachers are serious. They’re not laughing; the TV audience is. Remember, it’s the understanding of the viewer that Chelsea is going to go mess up something serious by being funny.
While I too would rather see a National Geographic special about us, I think that being featured on E! was a great thing! First, it was a very long clip, and it prominently featured the Krav Maga logo practically non-stop. And second, by being on a night-time comedy show, we reached a whole new demographic than those who would watch a feature on a morning news program.

I may be biased (just a little) but our school is fantastic. I can’t imagine having nicer facilities or better instructors!

The video clip was from a special all-day seminar on multiple attackers. The drill was familiar, though, as we’ve done very similar ones in both levels 1 & 2.
I have a scar on my wrist from being badly scratched by a guy with short, normal nails! I think it can always happen regardless of nail length.
Incidentally, it seems like the girls who have nice manicures are more reserved in class than the girls who don’t. Perhaps that is why I’ve never been scratched by them.
They never say \”Krav Maga\” or even show a logo, although you can kind of make out the KM symbol on the back of her trainer’s shirt (I think). The title of the DVD chapter where J.Lo trains is called \”Krav Maga,\” however.
If you’re doing a Bart Simpson-like spelling drill, don’t forget \”visualizing,\” \”asked,\” \”Valentine’s\”, and \”counseling.\” 😉

So, where do you practice? I’m curious as to where there is an predominantly gay troupe of Krav Maga students…
And I do understand about your addiction. I can’t see a blunt object in public without picturing using it for defense should someone attack me just then. 😛
