I personally don’t see the need for half-belts in Krav Maga, although a mid- term evaluation may be ok, I think the belts should be awarded in the same fashion that they always have been. That’s one thing that sets this system apart from alot of other systems. You earn the rank that you get, not because of time,$,kissin ass, or whatever. I took a serious beating from Amir and Marcus at my Blackbelt test, and I had f’d up my back during the first part of the test, hyper-extended my left elbow three times during the throws and broke a bone in my foot during the jump kicks. I sucked it up , survived the test , and \”would not\” have wanted it any other way. I totally expected that the test would be the ultimate of all tests and it was. I have a deep love for this system and what it has done for me and the way it has helped my students. My number one priority is still the safety of the people that I teach. I will never let money or extra fees hinder that. Yeah ,I like to make a living, but there is something that can always be worked out. my vent Mark KM Hammond La.

Sorry your experience was not so great. Most Krav instructors will show you how to overcome the differences in stance made by the attacker and also show you how the plucking defense can still be effective when being pushed. They may be new instructors to the system, that i don’t know. I do know that the combative striking done prior in class should have directly related to the self-defense being taught. I dont see round kicks fitting into choke from the front fitting in so well. Not that it can’t be taught in that class but not so much emphasis that you say. Well don’t let this completely discourage you, good KM is out there. Mark KM Hammond La

Let me first start off by saying I was doing Expert series V at the KMNTC when this thread was first going on and I just now have been able to go through it. I’ve spent the last 6 and a half years promoting and trying to grow KM in my little area of south Louisiana because of the hard work and dedication to KM that Darren,John,Michael,Marni, etc. have done , and also for my love for the system. All I ever heard of Eyal over the years from any of these people is great things. All I ever heard from Eyal is through an E-mail how wrong we were doing things in the U.S. and that we should switch to his organization and pay him money. To me integrety is everything I’m a former Marine and combat veteran. When someone makes statements as Eyal did in his E-mail,it makes me question his intents seriously.Bottom line its about the money he could be making off the Krav Maga name that KMNTC has promoted and spread in the U.S. Since when was Krav Maga a \”generic\” name in the U.S.? Who the hec ever heard of KM in the U.S. before KMAA? Not many. I’ve been in the martial arts 25yrs and never heard of it until a NAPMA conference almost 7yrs ago. I will do anything it takes to help protect the name and way of teaching Darren has set forth.Am I biased? Hell Yeah! I’ve spent thousands of $ to be able to teach what I’m teaching, I’m not well off , it’s been hard, but for what I’m able to teach to people for them to be safe it’s been worth every dime. Anyway that’s my vent ,I think that the Krav Maga name should be protected and that some reconciliation could probably still be made if other groups would honor their promises. Mark KM Hammond La.,

Hey Glen! My strategy was to dazzle them with my good looks and charm. When that didn’t work,I figured I’d let them beat their fists, arms and legs on me till they got tired, that did’nt work well either. But seriously, did someone tell them that I had said something bad about their mom or something? Anyway, great training with everyone, and hope to see yall again soon. Mark \”Punch&Kickpad\” Myers

Relax and breathe, relax and breathe throw combos and worry more about hitting than defending. Covering and defending will come more naturally win your relaxed , so will speed of techniques.Try to find sparring partners who will agree to do the same.If your sparring with someone who you know is not trying to knock you out with every punch you can learn to be a bit more relaxed with movement ,bobbing ,weaving and throwing combos, thus this will help your overall confidence in your abilities. You can throw the fastest punch ever when your relaxed hitting mitts, but spaz when your across from someone hitting back and your not controlling your breathe. Practice breathe relax. Anyway, this has helped me and my students, remember your training to help build your partner and they in turn should help to build you. Mark Myers Krav Maga Louisiana.

Go to healthcentral.com Look for home body fat test , all you need is a cloth tape measure . Somewhat accurate, its the old USMC way of measuring body fat. Hope this helps Mark

Hi all, just to put in my two cents,I’ve been in MA for over 20 years,KM instr for over 6,given several level 1,2 tests,to civilians with or without prior training, to LE with or without prior MA training. When under stress and fatigue all of them perform the pluck defense without thinking. Its based on a natural reaction and during stress or fatigue drills against a choke (whether its choke with a push or even against a wall) students tend to do the pluck vs any other def they know.Ryan , I know you’ve seen this to as well as alot of other instructors. Here’s my deal ,there is nice to know , and there is need to know, give them the need to know first and keep them safe. Is it okay to learn a vast variety of techniques? Sure just keep it in perspective when your teaching people who may have a limited amount of time to train and may not have a lifelong committment to training in MA KM or any other discipline Just my two cents Mark
