Good luck. I’m not that close but hoping to be there by end of this year. Heard it’s pretty tough from the people that I train with that took the test. Obviously you’re ready if your instructors invited you to test.

Taking the punishment to the side of your thigh/calf instead of your hands (lessen the chance to damage bones) would make more sense. Seems to naturally put your right leg while in a passive stance (if spinning to right) in a fighting stance to counter attack.
August 18, 2007 at 12:06 pm #55581katoeMemberHello everyone – katoe here. Lurker, new poster and I’m glad I found this site. Your spirited debates on various topics have taught me a lot especially how to be a smart ass and great debater. Seriously these post have been extremely helpful to me as I’ve panned all 33 pages to find topics that I feel would help me in my training. I’m a newbie so I don’t get into debates about techniques but I love reading all the different opinions. I’m intelligent enough (so I say) that I can make an informed decisions for myself amongst all the different viewpoints. All the regs (CJs dad, kravjeff, GK, V and unstapl, etc) thanks for keeping this site interesting especially with the spirited debates and your knowledge. Now off to class.
V – BTW thanks for your service to our country.August 15, 2007 at 9:05 pm #55487katoeMemberHey GK, thanks for the response. I always look forward to your posts and respect your opinion and advice. The instructor knew he was new but it was a large class and we were going over things pretty fast. I’m 100% confident if the instructor did notice me giving poor instruction he would been over in a jiffy.
It’s just that I’ve been in the same position before when starting KM(asking my partner for advice during drills) and have had mixed results. Most of the time positive and encouraging but one time I sensed the person getting annoyed. Typically the instructors are walking around during drills watching for technique errors and correcting on the spot.August 9, 2007 at 1:17 pm #55299katoeMemberTake care and be safe. Thanks for serving our country.
August 7, 2007 at 7:19 pm #55250katoeMemberUse wrist wraps for all training. Mostly for support of my wrist not to protect my knuckles. By wrapping my wrist is helps to keep it in the proper position when throwing a punch which will hopefully translate to memory if I ever get in a situation outside of training.
July 13, 2007 at 6:16 pm #54602katoeMemberJust ordered from Amazon. Delivery date July 27 – Aug. 6. Seems a long time to get the book compared to other books I’ve ordered from Amazon. Anyway, can’t wait to read it. Should be a good supplement/reference in addition to training.
July 12, 2007 at 7:28 pm #54574katoeMemberThanks for your time and feedback. Being new I just wanted the opinions of others as not to dishonor KM. But I’ll wear, when need be, with confidence and pride and hopefully others will take notice in a positive way and want to learn about this great system.
