    Re: Best BJJ videos?

Matt Thortons Functional JKD volumes 1 and 2 have the best basic BJJ teachings in my opinion.

Re: Defense against arm lock behind back?

Yes it is listed that way. BUt remember there were no seperated LE divisions,VIP or military sections at that time. The original curiculum that Darren and my instructor Alan taught from included all those things. For instance bayonet vs bayonet is in brown belt.
For what its worth these holds are antiquated and based on jiu jitsu holds so escapes for them have been out in the ether for decdes

Re: Balancing Aggression With Tactical Caution

It sounds to me like you are not learning or being taught Krav Maga correctly.

Re: Counter attacking a straight right punch. Head or Stomach????

If you are defending a righ cross with an inside defense than the best bet is the stomach due to the distance your arm needs to travel plus you would be redirecting his right in to your counterpunch if you aimed for the head. Two objects cant occupy the same space at the same time.

    Re: Why not compete?

If a Krav Maga fighter who has been training for many years gets his ass kicked by some who trained Muay Thai for a few months than that KM fighter has not been trained properly.

Re: My Fighting Stance: a KRAV VLOG

    Hey Sean,
Just out of curiousity when did KMW adopt such a wide stance? I started noticing instructors doing it in the mid 2ks and it looks a lot like Bas Ruttens stance yet obviously different than what instructors were doing in the 80s and 90s.

Re: Using a pen as a weapon-Krav Maga style.

Due to some requests to view this video I have made it public and it is available to view for the next few days before I make it private again. Enjoy.

Re: Anybody heard of Kfir Itzhaki or his system IIC?

Just for the record…historically have a background teaching Krav Maga in the IDF was never really a qualification for teaching KM in civilian. When there was only one KM Assocition in Israel IDF instructors would have to be certified by the KMA to teach civilians. Boaz Aviram talks about this in his bio.
KM in the IDF while it is tough training it does not have the depth and expansion that KM in the civilian world has. Civilian KM has always influenced IDF KM and not the other way around. But now that KM is popular and a good living can be made teaching it you now have a number of IDF vets teaching what they call KM. Some of it is the KM that we know, some is similar and some is just something that instructor put together and depending on who that instructor is the quality can vary. For instance Nir Maman teaches a program that involves many things that he developed that you cant find in other KM systems but he is a great instructor with very legit experience so it is a good program. Now I am not going to name names but there are other IDF vets that are teaching garbage and calling it KM.
    Basically buyer be aware.

    Re: Bar arm issues

The real key in this defense is the dropping of the inside shoulder when you pluck. This is what gives you the clearance you need to escape. Strikes are always ok if needed.
