Re: Winter Camp 2010!
quote smokelaw1:Looks like i might have the OK! Need to make sure it’s the “really real” OK before I buy tickets! Anyone recommend the best place to stay near the location?I’ve been to 2 of the Winter Camps and have been very glad to have “been there and done that” !! It is worth it.
They usually make some sort of group deal with a local hotel, you can probably find info about that on their web site.
Personally, I have stayed at the Super 8 in Westminster which is just a couple of miles east of the Krav Maga center there in Broomfield. It has cost less than the group deal hotel, but it is not luxury. However, it is not too expensive and nice. I’ve had success using them and been very satisfied.

In some stories the head is not the key. A bizarre alternate history Metallica rock video:

Watch for the headless zombie at 7:33 into the video. Be sure to pay attention to the subtitles.
As for guns, this is the one that I want:

(Just don’t push the red button on the bottom of the gun!)

This one would work well (as long as you had fuel for your plane):

I’ve always thought training in shoes to be more realistic, but you may be forced to lift you foot slightly and turn it out then plant it.
It is a bit different than pivoting your foot because you lift weight off of it.
What are some thoughts from the instructors?

Would a tackle/lunge/roll at the knees and ankles as he rushes be a good tactic?

FYI
From the link below:
quote :… The prohibition of tattooing is found in the Torah: “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves: I am the Lord” (Leviticus 19:28). …http://www.myjewishlearning.com/practices/Ethics/Our_Bodies/Adorning_the_Body/Tattoos.shtml
The article goes on to say:
quote :… In our day, the prohibition against all forms of tattooing regardless of their intent, should be maintained. In addition to the fact that Judaism has a long history of distaste for tattoos, …September 4, 2009 at 11:32 am #77724kmcatMemberRe: New Karate Kid movie staring Jaden Smith?
quote Nicolas Jordan:Very bizarre music video. Are those guys that acted in the video the original actors from the Karate Kid?Yes, those are all the originals. The K-Kid himself appears at the end.
I think that is the one true sequel to the movie.
The music group “No More Kings” is great. I got the album that has that song and I liked every song on it….

I like using a glove for extensive striking and holding pads.
The glove I’ve found most useful is actually a thin weight lifting glove that has a stout wrist wrap.
I found I did not have much patience for working with hand wraps. To time consuming and trying to maintain them and keep them clean was a hassle.
As for fitness class, some think it goofy, but I like to use fingerless bicycling gloves. They have terry cloth on the back to wipe sweat and keep your hands from slipping off equipment, plus it is a bit cleaner for your hands.

The top 10 things you will get out of Krav Maga:
10. You will have trouble watching horror/action movies. (Pluck the choke dammit!, The gun is in reach, just grab it!, OMG the gun is touching your head — sweet!)
9. You will make people nervous in crowds with your heightened level of awareness.
8. After being pounded and choked in class, your boss yelling at you will seem like a treat.
7. Your bulging shoulder muscles will make it a bit more difficult to effectively wash your back in the shower.
6. When they play security videos on the news, instead of being horrified or frightened like most people, you will be studying them and running alternate scenarios in you head.
5. Physical challenges will be measured in “Krav Units” (e.g., that hike was worth about a 0.5 warm up).
4. You will feel like your school fees and classes are wasted because no one ever wants to fight you.
3. Explaining odd injuries and scrapes at work may be awkward.
2. You will become familiar with muscle soreness, but you will come to like it and feel that something is wrong when you don’t have a sore spot.
1. Your confidence and strength will be well worth it all.
