Re: Is Krav Training Effective?…Enough?
I generally can’t stand it when a question is answered with a question but:
What would be better?
Short of walking into an “ethnically diverse” nightclub shouting racial slurs, a biker bar saying that everyone needs training wheels or Gold’s Gym calling everyone meatheads where are you going to get better, more “realistic” training?
Yes – Krav is effective … Enough.

quote Night Robin:Like Sam Fisher Splinter Cell? Like from the video game Splinter Cell also? Sam Fisher uses Krav Maga? Jeez! How long have I been exposed to this stuff without knowing?:confused:That’s him!!! 🙂

I actually was reading one of the Tom Clancy “Splinter Cell” books, wherein the primary character of the story used KM … They made it sound awesome in the story, but I didn’t even know if it was “real.” I “Googled” Krav Maga, talked to JamesH that afternoon and the rest as they say, is history. I did one class a few days later and signed up that night. That was early 2005 …

WC ’09 was my second time training with Jeff Jimmo and John Whitman, and my first with Darren Levine … Absolutely FANTASTIC! Not only excellent training but such a great bunch of people.
James, Shannon and crew have outdone themselves yet again! Don’t miss it next year!!!!!!!

Looks “legit”, but does not appear to be affiliated with KMWW … I did find this:
Should show in English – Basically says the instructor is formerly IDF and decsribes the system.

I would add … If someone is confronting you and taking off their belt, either get outta there or finish them while they are distracted …
Would love to hear the garddawg story !!!

Interesting — I just had this happen to me a couple of nights ago while doing BAS at home – A couple of simple “lunches” (Lunges) and squats – and my quad on the right just tightened up. I think that in my case I didn’t warm up enough, plus probably used poor technique as I was “lunging” in the middle of throuwing combos on the bag …
So far, all I’ve done for it is limp and complain … It’s pretty sore, but I plan on working out again later, though not doing any leg work (other than kicking) … I’m going to try fighting through it because in my case it just feels sore as opposed to a true injury. If you really think you’re injured, remember “R.I.C.E.” Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If not, and it just hurts – Fight on!!!
Good luck!

I made a CD that I use at home … It’s about 40 minutes and usually start it after my warmup while doing BAS (I listen to anything from Shinedown to Nickelback to Marylin Manson to Bon Jovi during warmup)
Almost Easy – Avenged Sevenfold
Addicted – Saving Abel
Tears Don’t Fall – Bullet for My Valentine
Breath – Breaking Benjamin
Down With the Sickness – Disturbed
Next Contestant – Nickelback
Follow You Home – Nickelback
Bodies – Drowning Pool
Crazy Bitch – Buckcherry
More Human Than Human – White Zommbie
the Diary of Jane – Breaking BenjaminOctober 10, 2008 at 5:03 am #70320kravjeffMemberRe: Fall Camp Video

quote fiend:So you guys seriously avoid bars and/or drinking on the fear that you might get in a fight? I don’t mean to troll here, just find it hard to believe. What do you do for fun at night? Even without bars, say sporting events, concerts, etc, there’s always drunk people around…I don’t have to be one of ’em !!!

quote Michael:I follow the three stupid rule.Don’t go stupid places
with stupid people
to do stupid things.I don’t go to bars, and I don’t get drunk. Doing either is placing yourself into a situation where you are far more likely to get into trouble. Why up your odds?
+1 Once again common sense rules the day …
Have an aquaintance who was “wasted” standing outside of a bar recently after it closed (about 2am) Car rolls up, guy gets out and smashes his skull, totally unprovoked. Beat him down ’till the guy’s (drunk) friends “realized” what was going on. In the hospital, fractured skull – Won’t press charges ’cause his wife is pregnant and he’s scared …
How ’bout this? Don’t get drunk and fight.?.?.?

I hadn’t heard of the book – Looks like it could be good. Is this a KMAA book?
