Re: CC guy shoots robber
If you pull a gun, be ready to use the gun. If he pulled it out simply for intimidation factor, he learned a good lesson. If he actually meant to use it, he needs a new profession.
No sympathy

Vast majority of dogs will jump at you when they attack, simply front kick them in the throat as they cannot see below their heads. If you try coming at them from a lateral or overhead angle, trust me a dogs head and mouth is faster than you.
For the rare occasion that they go low, side step and see whats openNovember 7, 2008 at 5:01 pm #70767prekarious1MemberRe: Question about footwork
The way it was drilled into me when I started kickboxing:
Have a friend watch as you do it, have him call out directions for you to move. He can push you as your are moving.
If you cross your feet while moving you will notice very quickly that you are not only worse off balance but that you don’t have the time it normally takes to recover.November 7, 2008 at 4:57 pm #70766prekarious1MemberRe: self-defense versus fighting
Sanctioned fighting has rules and safe guards.
Street fighting usually has opponents that agree to be there but no rules.Self-Defense is nullify the situation (generally one that you were not expecting and possibly not prepared for) and get your self out of it as soon as practically possible to avoid injury to yourself or others and continue on with your life

quote Ryan:If you’re on the receiving end of the headbutt, there’s a lot wrong with it. A principle of KM is to not trade one danger for another, and while we deal with the immediate danger, we must also consider secondary dangers.Let me ask you this, when you pluck at the elbows, what happens?
distance closes if done with enough force. his attention goes to the arm that is being attacked, hopefully his eyes do as well. not sure what answer your looking for here

we obviously have seen different results with this one then.
and whats wrong with an incidental head butt? if you hit hard enough to cause that then you should be expecting it and ready. I know that some people are simply adverse to headbutts but they are effectiveFebruary 13, 2008 at 3:01 am #61935prekarious1MemberRe: Choke from the front – pros and cons of simultaneous counter
if opponent is obviously stronger another option is to use your elbow coming down on top of his. Have used it to great effect and have seen it not useful at all. I know that the few times I have tried going for hands or anything like that in a practical situation it didn’t work out so well for me.
Hitting the elbow may not do much for the hands on your thoat, but surprise and quickness make up for that quite nicely.February 12, 2008 at 4:56 pm #61898prekarious1MemberRe: Choke from the front – pros and cons of simultaneous counter
quote mike_g:If you pluck at the elbow to force a bend in the arm ,what do you do if the choke is applied with the arms already bent?not a kravist so my answers will usually be a bit different.
If the attackers arms are already bent you can still do the same move. Reason I prefer elbow to thumbs is bigger target area so greater chance of success with the move under stressful situations (generally). Also with the attacker being straight armed, forcing the bend in his arm will also bring him closer to you increasing the force of your attackFebruary 11, 2008 at 8:56 pm #61858prekarious1MemberRe: Choke from the front – pros and cons of simultaneous counter
Another option.
Once you notice that the choke is coming and you can’t get out of the way fast enough, plant you legs with your strong side foot slightly behind you. With your weak side hand pluck the elbow of the attacker forcing a bend in his arm at the elbow and using your strong side hand hit with a palm strike to nose (or fist to throat if enough room). Has worked many times and you never need to worry about losing balance because of having a foot off the ground.February 8, 2008 at 3:45 pm #61687prekarious1MemberRe: Weak Left
Get a punching bag.
Slow movements concentrating on technique and control. Build speed slowly and before you know it you’ll be just fineFebruary 7, 2008 at 10:42 pm #61660prekarious1MemberRe: Use of palm strike vs fist strike to the face?
personal preference and target area.
Ears=slap
jaw/nose=punch
eyes/temple/eyebrows=elbow
throat=whatever is fastestFebruary 4, 2008 at 1:51 am #61467prekarious1MemberRe: Krav Maga Vs MCMAP
