Re: Letting go of Self-Consciousness
Thanks for the encouragement. I should just focus on learning to save my life and protect my self rather than what I look like doing a thechniqe, or what others think.
Thanks

All I know is that Tom Cruise was trained in it for Mission Impossible 2, also Christan Bale
for Batman. They are taking advatage of the recent use of their style in the movies, to Market their school here in the US. Nothing wrong with that. Krav does that as well.August 27, 2008 at 9:52 pm #69398randymaga1kravMemberRe: Tragedy, friends son murdered.
I am sorry for your loss. It’s scarry.
My Neighborhood is having a meeting tonight, because of the recent armed robberies
to pedestrians in the Melrose area. Also a old man was stabbed to death for no apparent reason in the same area. The police are going to be there and we are going to discuss what can we do to protect our selves and our neighbors. I wish I had a krav instructor there to make suggestions.Randy

Summer camp was really amazing! The staff was wonderful, and THE PLANE WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so greatful that I got to experience that. I was thinking, that not many people get to do something like that. It’s funny, because I got on a plane two days afterwards, and was thinking what I would do if there was a terrorist on the plane. lolThe beach training was grueling, and I also like the Full Force training. It was an eye opener to what happens when opne is under stress. I am definatly there next year.

I have trained in Escrima for about 3 years and Krav Maga for about 2 1/2.
They are different schools. Empty hand fighting in escrima is similar to Krav Maga, but
Escrima one trains first with sticks, as a training tool to be able to fight empty hand and also wth a knife. Escrima really focuses on footwork. They use a tri-angle foot movement patern, and focuses on efficiciency of movment. I feel that they both complement each-other.November 13, 2007 at 5:34 am #57942randymaga1kravMemberRe: Geen Belt Test Canceled 🙁

November 8, 2007 at 9:17 pm #57732randymaga1kravMemberThe staff said that they where not what they where looking for because I train at the location where the staff that evaluates if a student is ready for training is also teaches there. This was a year ago and I have increased the intensity and frequency of training as well as private lessons. So I am more skilled now. I don’t know if they would consider me now or not. I wanted to do the phase training because I felt that it would be intense training(I like challenges too) But what I have found out, at least for my self that learning is an ongoing process and it is marathon not a sprint. I learned so much over a longer period of time rather than cramming a great deal of training in 8 hours a day for a week.
Not to say that that is bad, but for me I learn better with repetition and time.
Like an old martial art teacher told me “To become efficient with a technique you must do it at least ten thousand times”Randy

November 8, 2007 at 2:08 pm #57711randymaga1kravMemberI had e-mailed staff of Krav asking what they are looking for when they are looking for instructors, and told them I had an interest. They replied with, “There are many things that they look for. Physical ability attitude, and not only to be able to do the techniques, but to
look good doing them because instructors are going to be teaching other students. They went on to say that I was not what they where looking for, and hope that that does not
discourage me to keep training.
Well it really hurt and was really a blow to my confidence, but I used it to train harder. So I won’t be an instructor. So what. I will be the best that I can be, because we are the only one we are competing against. Our biggest opponent is our self.Randy
