If you look at Moni’s DVD’s and what he was teaching in Human Weapon, it looks like he has changed some things already. In the dvd’s on those gun defenses he doesn’t explain the jerking or pulling your opponent towards you you just grab the arm and take the gun away. So in a sense his system is still evolving. Also, does KM allow you to do adlibs or addons? Like with Moni’s tech. wiithout countering with some sort of strike. Wouldn’t that be up to the KM student to decide if it was best to just take away or possibly instead of stepping back stay in there and give a couple strikes with the weapon. Not everyone knows how to use a weapon let alone hold it properly. Or is this something you teach in your km classes?

I am in another forum where they have talked about this ABC site. The LT X has other sites as well for other things and they are all the same. A few members have got the dvd’s and everyone one of them said it is a scam. IMO don’t waste your money on it. I do believe he gives his name on another site.

One thing I’ve noticed in a lot of schools is they will use a name of a certain system like Krav Maga or JKD to get students in the door. I know of one in my town that is a Kenpo studio (per say) and on his sign he has JKD concepts. The only type of JKD this place teaches is maybe the stance and a few simple trapping techniques. I don’t even think the Kenpo is anything I’ve seen before but then again I come from CHA3 Kenpo not American Kenpo.

I talked to a guy named Moni. I guess he teaches combat krav maga in canada. Anyways he told me for Phase 1 and 2 certification it takes about a year and a half. Not sure if this is the same with other Krav maga organizations. That is the same as, i guess, yellow and green belt.

I guess I understand this from a traditional type of belt system. So, you can be a blue belt but if you take the certification course you can instruct someone two belt levels lower then you? What is the quality of instructors if you do it this way and donít you have a problem with maybe the student becoming the instructor if the current instructor doesn’t have the time or the money to move on to another belt level?

And if I’m understanding this right certification and being a black belt is totally different? Let me know if I’m wrong here. I believe what you teach in Krav Maga is very good but I’m a bit worried about the quality in the instructors you have. Seems to me that they are just being thrown out there and if an instructor gets a very serious student who wants to learn more that student is stuck because his/her instructor isn’t trained high enough to complete the training. I don’t mean to step on any toes here I just want to understand the philosophy you all have with your instructors.

So, in some KM schools you have blue belts teaching others? So if someone were to get their blue belt and their current instructor hasn’t progressed any you have to look for another school or wait for a seminar to test for other belts? Just curious how KM teaching works.

Thanks for the info. I’m going to buy the DVD’s and also trying to make contact with the school in Minnesota. I’m about 5 hours away and would like to train there once a month if possible. Also looking to move there so I can attend class weekly. Does KM allow a student to train two days a month and follow the dvd’s and also test? I workout at two local martial arts schools, one is a MMA style school which pretty much teaches cage fighting and the other is a friends Kenpo school. I would be practicing my KM there and training as much as possible. Thanks for any information.
