    Re: First Krav Maga Class…

Yea so I went tonight again it was a lot of fun. The pain from Wednesdays class actually went away once we started the class, but im sure itll return tomorrow morning haha. I talked to them and they were awesome about giving me a 3 month contract for the summer and then if Im still around I can renew it. If anyone is in the Glen Mills area, I highly suggest the place I go both because of the great classes and the cool instructors.

The best part is that I signed up tonight for 110/month, but I’m also allowed to attend jujitsu classes and aikido free of charge. Pretty sick deal.

    Re: First Krav Maga Class…

haha yea i feel like all of the new people starting krav (like myself) get so jacked up to begin that they say they are going to go “8 days a week ,AT LEAST once a day if not more!” hahah… once you actually go through that first class, you realize that you need to let your body recover or you won’t be very anxious to head back the 3rd or 4th time.

Quick question… the place im going charges about $100/month but you have to sign a 6 month contract. Do most places let you freeze that contract if you are going to school in the fall? I may be attending law school in the fall and if I sign up for a 6 month contract now it won’t expire until beginning of December and I’ll have to pay for about 3 months of time that I won’t even be going. This might be a problem for me as much as I loved it the other day… Have any of you had similar experiences??? What was the outcome??

    Re: First Krav Maga Class…

Ya unfortunately I don’t think I am going to make it tonight because I got to help someone move, but I’m definitely going to go tomorrow and again on friday or saturday. The muscle aching is what makes me want to go back so bad. I didnt realize what a good workout this stuff was

    Re: First Krav Maga Class…

It’s the day after… and now I understand why people highly suggest giving your body a break. I feel like I was lifting heavy for 7 hours yesterday…my entire body is in pain. This is great.

Quick question… do most of you guys just do Krav or do some of you do Krav and go to a gym to lift? If you do both, what does your schedule look like?

    Re: uniforms

I just began my KM training, but the school I go to doesnt wear uniforms. Personally, I wouldn’t mind wearing a krav shirt and sweatpants but I wouldnt want to wear a huge garb with a belt and everything… i think that would be a little bit too much

    Re: Ways to fight exhaustion

    quote Lcash:

Another aspect is something I have noticed in new fighters. They move around too much. When I am sparing with a newbie I am almost standing still and just pivoting and a little side to side to keep them off balance. They on the other hand are moving around quite a bit all over the room and tucker out quite quickly. Most of them are in better aerobic shape that I am as I am still overwieght by about 50 lbs but in a sparing match I can outlast them simply by watching my movements and not dancing all over. I make my movements count and eliminate any movement that is not necessary.

I just had my first class tonight, and I have to say that I am definitely guilty of that. I was also beat by the middle of most of the workouts. thanks for the tip man

Re: Starting KM training next week, any tips?

Alright guys… so I just got back from my first Krav Maga class…I am dead. After the beginning workout of the class (which only consisted of about 10-15 minutes) I was totally winded.
We started with lots of little workouts like jumping jacks, pushups, situps, etc. but doing them one after another was pretty tiring. After that we stretched in ways I didnt know were possible (prob need to take the Yoga suggestion) and then eventually moved onto the actual exercises.
The instructor was a cool guy and he focused on hammer punches (i.e. stabbing) with a partner. We did all sorts of exercises with the hammer punches and then our last exercise we learned how to get out of a frontal choke hold, grab our partner’s wrist, pull them in and elbow them in the face. After we did that same exercise with our eyes closed, the class ended after about an hour and a half…all of this being said…

    …I f*cking loved it.

Re: Starting KM training next week, any tips?

haha yea im definitely nervous to start, not gonna lie. I am going to my first class tonight with my brother (I’m 22, he’s 25) and were both a bit nervous to see how it goes. I’ll probably post back on here tonight after the class to let everyone know how dead I am haha

    Re: Why Krav?

I am 22 years old, but I actually haven’t started my Krav yet, but I am beginning next week (hope that doesn’t disqualify me from this thread haha). Anyway, I started doing different types of martial arts when I was younger everything from kung fu to karate. I never got into it because I got bored with all the pretty “forms” that I had to memorize and was much more interested in learning something that would actually be useful. Anyway, I saw Krav Maga on one of those fighting shows on the discovery channel and became really interested. That was about 8 months ago, and I pledged to myself that once I had some time and graduated from college (this past Sunday) that I would dedicate my summer to learning and practicing Krav Maga. I will be starting my classes this upcoming Monday (or Tuesday if they aren’t open on Memorial Day) and I am really excited about it. My story isn’t half as exciting as most, but I thought I would share my $.02 because I am really excited to be a part of this whole thing.

    Re: Zero Tolerance

umm… I think you have the wrong law man. the zero tolerance law in California has to do with driving under the influence of alcohol.

What is the Zero Tolerance Law? This law states that it is against the law to drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .01% or higher if you are under 21 years of age. Your BAC is measured by a test given to you by a police officer. Under this law, on your first offense, your driving privilege will be suspended for one year if:

    • your BAC is .01% or higher, or
    • you refuse to take the preliminary alcohol screening (PAS) test, or
    • you fail to complete the PAS test.

…what is the law you are talking about? I would be more than willing to give you my opinion if you could direct me to the entire text of this “No Fight” law.
