Re: weight training and krav maga

I’m always playing around trying to find the ultimate workout that I can complete within an hour. I’ve been trying to find a workout where can incorporate strength training with cardio. Here is an example of my new workout routine. I’m trying to do the workout three times a week mixing and matches the following (pushups, bench press, dead lifts, squats with weights, jumping squats with 12lbs medicine ball, dips not assisted, dips assisted, bear crawl, crab crawl, roundhouse kicks, cleans, kettleball squats (where you swing the kettlebell up as you squat), crunches, lunges).

    Today’s workout
    Run/jog 1/2 mile
5 Sets of 10 Benchpresses and 50 pushups
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
    Lunge Walk 100 steps
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
Dumbell Squats 50 reps and Jumping Squats with 12lb Medcine Ball 50 reps
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
Cleans with Barbells 100 reps (starting with 80 lbs, then lowering the weight with each 10 rep set and doing go back up in weight)
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
Kettlebell Squats – One arm with 20lbs 100 reps (50 reps left, and 50 reps right)
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
Dips – 100 reps both unassisted and assisted
    Run/jog 1/4 mile
Bear Crawl – two 70 yard crawls (ouch)
    Done
Now the whole goal is to keep going and not stop (kinda like the Bas routines).
I try to incorporate some of the other lifts like deadlifts, pullups, crunches, etc). I’m trying to build more stamnia right now then strength since I’m already fairly strong for being 45 years old. I also do BJJ two times a week and Krav 3 times a week. I also try to run/jog 2 miles a least two times a week on days that I do not do this workout routine. I try to rest 2 days a week. It seems to be working. My stamina seems to be getting better.

Re: After you’ve used KM to defend yourself, do you report it or keep quiet?

I like SteveTuna’s response also. I would add I saw him reaching in in pocket, thought he was going for a gun. If it is a scumbag habitual thief he most likely would already have a record.

By the way I would not volunteer that I used Krav to defend myself. No way! Anything you say can be used against you.

I thought about it and I wouldn’t wait around to explain period in most cases. I have assets and do not want any BS civil case brought against me which I could end up racking up thousands and thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees fighting it. However if there are plenty of witnesses around I probably would up staying and explaining.

Re: High School Alumni Football Game / Krav

Steve, It was odd years vs even years. I was an even year. We won 12 – 0. There were a lot of fumbles and interceptions.

Two are of three aren’t bad, lol. Last night I played offensive tackle and defensive end even though I weigh 225. While on defense I was doubled-team and even tripled-team numerous times. Here are a few before game pictures and the after game picture. You can see I have a few brusies.

Re: In terrible shape after cancer surgery…

You did not state if you had radiation treatments also. Radiation saps your energy for a long time.

Re: Handling threats in high school

I think you did the right thing. However do not be suprised if this bully keeps at it, trying to start shi*. Maybe, maybe not. If he keeps at it you might have to go ballistic on him. Unfortunately I’m sure this would get you suspended from school for “x” amount of days which is never good. Hopefully others out there have some good advice but sometimes it’s good to to nip the problem in the bud asap.

Re: What do you guys think of this video?

The video doesn’t mean anything in my opinion. The video is describing fighters that have many years of experience. I’m guessing the average student to takes Krav goes for a year or less than quits. If I was to choose a MMA fighter that I would like to emulate it would be Lyota Machida. His offense is good but what I like is his self-defense. Why go toe to toe with another fighter if you do not have to. Getting hit hurts.
