    Re: Any other gun nuts?

I’ve found it useful, although my neighbors (both ex-marines) walked by the other morning and saw me shooting the other morning and started laughing. Ya they ended shooting too after about 5 minutes.

Here’s a picture of the airsoft pistol and the real thing. I tried to find one that matched as close as possible so I could get my hand position and grip consistent. It’s a gas pistol with removable magazine but does not have a working slide, which they do have for sale. I think the thing cost me 50 bucks.

My local range (like most civilian ranges) won’t allow quick draws or rapid fire, so really this is the only way I can practice holster draws and any sort of movement. I mostly work stance, hand position, movement, rapid draw and fire (2 or 3 rounds), and speed vs. accuracy at ranges from 6 to 12 ft. The targets I print off the computer.

All in all a cheap alternative to the range and very flexible. Also interesting after doing some burpies or crossfit workout trying to controll my breathing.

Not really a gun nut but I have a Beretta model 96 (.40) and an AR. Wish I could shoot more. About all the shooting I’ve done lately is with a Beretta airsoft pistol in my garage practicing drawing and focus shooting drills LOL!

    Re: AR-15’s

I should modify that last question. I first zeroed an aproximation like we did so many years ago in the Army; 25m for a 300m zero, though it was actually 25yds. Then I zeroed for 100yds and ended up reading an article about “improved battle sight Zero” which I settled on as it was more. Conducive to my range shooting.

Well I bought mine for a few reasons.

    A) To look hella cool in my safe 99.9999% of the time
    B) To shoot it once a year if that
    C) In case all hell breaks loose

I’m sure it will work fine for all three. 🙂

rofl2 Too funny. I put together a kit a few years ago from model 1 and a DPMS lower. Nearest outdoor range is across the border in MO. By the time I drive there, shoot for a couple hours and drive back it gets pretty pricey. Last two times I shot the damn thing was indoor with a .22 conversion kit from Ceiner.

PS. Jeremy what’s your prefered zero. At first I did 100, then I tried the 50yd zero and ended up sticking with that.

    Re: Increasing Flexibilty

Do a search on PNF stretching. I started doing a while back before some bad back pain that I sustained and it was working well for me. On bag days I was also doing dynamic stretches.

I’m surprised no one commented on this weeks episode.

Bah! wish I would have seen that! I’ll try to catch it online.

    Re: Taken

Now that it’s on video I got a chance to check it out. Not sure that I saw anything that specifically made me think of Krav but the offensive nature of some of the defensives were cool.

With camera angles as they are and the changing of views in such a rapid manner it’s really hard to get a good look at the coreography these days.

The only time I was watching a show and stopped and said “that is soooo krav maga” was an episode of The Unit. Of course it was the one that Sam worked on.

Over all I liked the movie but was pissed off knowing that trafficking in women and children is all too real.

Re: Why call It NE regional Training center, Why call it KM at all??

I appreciate the fact that things like this are looked at. I’ve been to schools in California and here in Kansas. In both cases I was inspired by the dedication and ability of the instructors.

We often hear about posers and wana-be’s as well as those trying to capatalize onthe Krav Maga name, if there is a school that has certification, thereby displaying a seal of quality via KMWW, it can only be to the benefit of allthe other schools that allegations of this sort are investigated.

By this I am in no way saying these alegations are true, only that it is comforti g that there is recourse at a higher level if necessary.

Without going into too much detail what was worked on we did combatives ala Bas and broke for lunch where I proceeded to get into a little knife on knife fight with their platoon leader. ñ Whose bright idea was that?

2 days down, 3 to go.

Uhhhh….. No really detail please unless it violates some NDC or something. What was this all about and how in the heck do you get to train with DEVGRU!
That is crazy man. Any more info would be great!

    Re: Bullied children

    quote Ryan:

Every human being is born knowing how to fight…we, as a society, teach them not to fight, as children, and the ability wanes with the willingness. We teach them violence is bad. Guess, what? Poison is bad, unless you call it chemotherapy. Sometimes, poison, like violence, is what is called for.

It’s kinda funny… When playing with my 1 1/2 year old son, tickling or playing on the floor, it’s amazing how he automatically does thing like go into a gaurd position or use his limbs to block etc. Always trips me out.

There is a GIF out on the internet with Lyoto Machida doing an inside defense and counter against a left straight perfectly; it looks identical to our KM Defense. BJ Penn used inside defenses and slipping punches perfectly against Sean Sherk in their last fight.

Re: Should I start without a teacher?

    Triped,

At a minimum I would say to take one of the introductory seminars that are held. That way you can get a feel for some of the basic moves and have a starting point for your training. Having a partner is really going to help you. Maybe you could ask a friend and go to a seminar together and then follow up with the book at home.

Ditto to what Jon said about Crossfit. Garddawg’s scaled Crossfit workouts are designed for all levels of fitness and woud be a good place to start as well. Link to his site …. http://www.crossfitbrandx.com/index.php/forums

Best wishes in what ever you decide.
