    Re: Women in KM?

    Phoebe –
As stated I hope you’ve spoken to your instructor about this issue. I’ve been doing krav for 3 years. James does an all level lunch class (I ADORE it & have done it religiously since starting) and it’s usually all guys and me. Those first 4-6 months of class I was terrified before every class. BUT I wanted it – because those guys didn’t go light on me. I learned I had to and COULD go at their speed & intensity. But, trust me, it took every ounce of will power to NOT run out class (James – I will admit I ran out of Expert ONCE so blah, lol)

Keep at it Phoebe. It WILL get easier. You WILL learn that you’ve got the demon bitch in you & you will not let those big guys hurt you.

    Congratulations!

And Steve – that saying is AWESOME!!! I don’t think you’re coming to CO for WC otherwise I’d tell you to bring them here – cuz we’ve got some bitches 😀

    Re: Winter Camp 2010!

SuperGirl – usually at WC for at least one of the seminars the instructors ask everyone to partner up with someone they don’t know – and it’s a hellalota fun 🙂 You will do great at WC as ALL of the instructors who come in and the COKM instructors are super supportive and patient – no matter how much it feels like you er I mess up.

smokelaw1 – if it helps to convince your wife to come (thereby letting you come to WC) tell her there is a FANTASTIC mall (FlatIrons Mall) less than 10 minutes from COKM BRM school. I hate shopping with a passion so for me to be enthusiastic about it should say a lot. Plus she can go to downtown Denver & visit lots of museums or go to Boulder & walk the Pearl St Mall and be entertained by laughing at er watching the things that claim to be people 😀

I had to watch from the sidelines last year 🙁 so participating again is making me drool in anticipation 😀

Re: Finally – LEVEL 3 TEST DONE

mara_jade – don’t be too quick in wanting to play with the shock knives!!! Last Friday night James hand WAY too much fun with them in Expert. Group of 6 attacking 1, 2 shock knives randomly changing hands AND he hand one that he’d just zap attackers with. FUN. NOT lolol

Re: What did you do in Krav Maga class today?

Last night’s Expert class (for people not in Colorado I guess that’s the equivalent of Level 4-5, the altitude lets us do our own thing, lol) warm up was lots of shoulder/knee tapping – if tapped 1 burpee, pushups, crunches, stretching; then gun gun gun. From the front, touching front of head, touching side of head. And lots of ground & pound.

It’d been 9 months since last high level class & what a great experience, despite the cut up hands.

Re: Krav Maga Sherman Oaks on the news

Jarret A and Shannon Hiromasa are two of the baddest chicks around. I hope to be just like them when I grow up. It’s sad that a murder had to happen to get people calling about Krav but at least they’re calling.

    Re: Police Officer Brent Wilkening.

Ummm, I’m going to show my naÔvetÈ with this but I’ve got to ask anyway. What is a “badge bunny”? If it’s what I think I am ashamed for my sex. Please be kind 🙂

    Congrats Officer Wilkening.

Damn Mario she took a whole class from me!

CJs Dad – you need to add an apostrophe after the s since there are now 2 CJs. 😀

And it was your class that killed me, making me unable to complete his class. I still want to do that attack drill . . .

    Re: Your favorite KM instructors?

Al – you did a great job of stating why COKM rocks.

But you left yourself out of the list. You are one fantastic instructor – your patience to working with students, your knowledge of groundwork and your enthusiasm for it all (CrossFit modifcations to hell for me, thank you!) make you a great instructor. Just wish you knew it. (And I’m not blowing smoke. Unlike Miller or James you won’t just hit me out of the blue 😀 )

    quote CJs Dad:

At one point this 6ftOMGHUGE 300lb guy was doing knees into me and I was catching air every time he hit the pad. I’ve never felt so much like a ragdoll in my life.

Thanks, Sean, for the imagery. Color me green with envy. Hope you survived the week.

Re: No Krav for a bit ::cries::

I know your pain. I haven’t punched anything since Feb. 3rd – 13 weeks, 3 days. yup, I’m counting the days – and you will too. I had left shoulder repair done. Listen to your PT – don’t try to come back early. On Tuesday I did the Conditioning Class and instead of just doing my PT authorized shoulder exercises I air punched. Let me tell you – I paid for it. So LISTEN TO YOUR PT & DO WHAT S/HE SAYS.

Yes you’re going to lose cardio & muscle strength. It’s a fact of life. But, ya know what? It comes back.

Good luck & breath after your surgery. Take the pain meds; they’ll keep you from tightening up.
