For those of us over the age of 25, there is a website called 2old2play.com
It is a great site that is just for older mature gamers. There are weekly game nights also. Which is great so you don’t have to hear kids screaming into their mic or just being out right annoying.

    Andy,

What does it take to be come instructor certified? I realize I am just begining but I would like to know for future refrence.

Force Training Division controls the Military & LE side of KM. My Command got 10 of us certified. John Pascal is in charge of FTD. If you email FTD they can give you more guidance. It does have to be Command sponsored.

I believe he is telling you that you work out is unbalanced. You are only working the front of your body.

    quote Ryan:

That “really intense french guy” is Richard Grillat. I miss Richard…

when you say I miss Richard you don’t mean something happened to him do you? I hope not. He was a great guy and instructor. He really made it more than just a class. With his military background he made it more relevant for us.

Re: Muscle / Joint Soreness / Inflamation

I wouldn’t take creatine as a supplement it mainly just adds water to your muscles so they look bigger. Glutamine is good supplement to use even though it is an amino acid it is a non essential amino so you can not have to much of it.
You might want to alternate your tue and fri workout. Instead of doing two workouts in one day alternate weeks.
If changing your work out schedule and taking glutamine still shows no improvement you might have over exhausted the muscles and might have to throttle back to just one work out a week (krav).

You might also want to incorporate a massage therapist every month or every other month

Re: Muscle / Joint Soreness / Inflamation

DS314 I don’t know if you are still having problems or not but if you are it could come from two main reasons.
    1. Your body is not producing enough creatine and glutamine required for the physical activity that you are putting your body through.

    2. Recovery. Each time you work whether it is doing the tapes going to the gym or Krav. You are breaking down your muscles. Your workout routine does not allow your body enough time in between workouts to rebuild the muscles.

While working out your body dispenses creatine to your muscles and nerves from the spinal cord to give them energy.

Glutamine aids in recovery after you have broken down the muscle. Any time you have an injury of any type glutamine is the amino acid that your body makes to help aid in recovery. It does by traveling through the blood stream.

    Re: Keysi Fighting Method

From what I heard there are two guys one is Spanish (founder) and One is English (co-Founder). Apparently the Spanish guy was in and out of prison and grew up on the streets. He developed this style so the he could survive in prison and on the streets. I think the English guy is the marketing behind everything. He is an instructor as well though.

Re: Getting over being glove shy?

No you wouldn’t it is crazy how much all the areas of Jax have grown. Where ever there is open land there is either a new mall or housing community. Most people do not want to live Duval County cause of the violence.

Orange Park is huge now. Just in my new community development Oakleaf Plantation there is a middle and elementary school. They are building a high school and another elementary school just for our community. I believe my community was started about 3 years ago.

From what I hear over the past 10 years just here in OP between Blanding (SR21) and Middleburg the population increase has been overwhelming.

When was the last time you were in Jax?

I am 6’2 230 12%bf. I love to get hit. I welcome it, but only because it is part of fighting. If you are smaller go ahead and come inside I want you to.

If I were to fight someone my size or bigger I wouldn’t take punches just for the sake to get inside. If I am out and the persons body language and eyes suggest that he is going to try something I am on him before he gets a chance.

The best offense is a great defense!

    Re: Nutrition question

Good luck with the low fat Ranch. I love ranch and tried the low fat and it tasted horrible to me.

Tuna is very good you can eat the packets with wheat crackers. Just don’t add any mayo.

    Re: Why Krav?

I got exposed in 2005 while in the Navy. My ships MWR had Jon Pascal (Force Training) came out with this really intense french guy to certify us as instructors. After the first class (9 hrs) I was so sore but I liked it. When we finished and passed the test. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I like how everything is relevant and uses the bodies natural movements.

I got out of the Navy but was not certified to teach civilians and there is so much more for me to learn. So I just started back up and actually last night was my first class in 2 years. It felt great. I was rusty but it was coming back.

We were going over chokes from the front and my partner could not fit her hands all the way around my neck so the French guy came over and started chocking the **** out of me. I broke free and he told me I had two choices either get free or pass out.

I maybe a little crazy but I loved it..

Re: Getting trained in KM whilst in the military

I got certified as an instructor while on the USS Enterprise. If your command MWR wants to fund it. Then it is possible. That is how we were able to do it. We then held classes on the ship for women, security and aircrew.
