Re: Who’s coming to the KM2U Seminar in July?

Ryan’s a good guy. A little intense at times, but that’s good.

Come to Austin and check out a class sometime. The Monday at 7:30pm one is my favorite.

Re: Who’s coming to the KM2U Seminar in July?

I wish I could come. I’ve heard good and funny things about Mr. Hardy, mostly from his brother, Ryan Hardy, who is my chief instructor here in Austin.

Re: What did you do in Krav Maga class today?

I did a double workout last night.

For the level 2/3 class, we did punch/kick combos. At the end of class we got into groups of four with one in the middle, then one in the group would attack the one in the middle with a choke, bearhug, etc. then the next on and on until time was called. Very exhausting. Then just to make things interesting, the one in the middle spun around with their eyes closes to make then dizzy and disoriented before having to defend. Definitely different.

For the level 1 class that followed, we did 360 defenses and then did 360 with a knife which really emphasized proper form.

There was a bunch of other usual stuff and suffice it to say, I was sapped after 2 hours of that.

    Re: Second Amendment Defense

Holy Cow. I know that woman. She was in my Krav class until she hurt her knee.

I thought it was great, and Heath did a fantastic job as Joker.

    Re: Will this work

    quote mnozzolini:

First off I want to tahk all of you for your genuine concern for my daughter. Just so you all know, i have seen many lawyers, and they are basicaly telling me that unless i catch her with a crack pipe in her mouth, dont even bother unless she comes forward and says she has been hit and abused, which i have pleaded with her to take action, ive gone as far as telling her i would get her a new house in a new town and just vanish. Well obvisouly the answer to all my questions are NO or i wouldnt be at the point im at.

Secondly, no i do not think its roids, he gets liquid courage. Typical if you ask me.

i guess a question i should have asked is will this training help me to find a place to put all my pent up aggrivation, in class and such. I weight train 3 to 4 times a week and it is not enough.

It will definitely help vent your frustration. I am always much calmer and happier after Krav. It’s my therapy.

As for taking legal action, it’s of course your call to make.

I hope your ex wises up and dumps the jerk. Good luck.

    Re: Will this work

To answer your question, I think it would help, but you should heed the advice here and take the higher ground and bring in the po po and lawyers.

And next time you’re going to be close to the guy, bring some pepper spray. Google Fox Labs.

Re: Pflugerville/Round Rock Level One/Yellow Belt test

So I was able to prove to myself that my knee is fine. I went back to lifting heavy (took a week off before the test). I squatted 275 3×5 and deadlifted 300 1×5. So yea, the knee is fine.

And the low inside defenses also sucked. I didn’t hear the sobbing over the profanity coming from my side of the room.

Re: Pflugerville/Round Rock Level One/Yellow Belt test

I was also there testing. I also bashed my knee. I connected knee to knee w/ my partner when we were doing choke defenses on a grassy hill. He didn’t even notice it. Fortunately, it was just a bad bruise, but it did make the last hour or so interesting.

I also can’t wait to start level 2 stuff.

Re: When were you ready for your level 1 test?

So I passed. It was brutal, but I didn’t die, so I guess I was ready.

Re: When were you ready for your level 1 test?

I’ve been doing it for 4 months and I’m testing this Saturday. I’ve been of course working on my form and chokes and such. I’ve also been doing a fair bit of intense cardio including some bag classes at my school. I’ll let you know if it was enough.

Re: Reflection – 3 months Doing Krav

I’ve been going for 4 months now and plan to test on the 19th. It’s been great so far. My cardio has gone through the roof and I feel better than ever.

Re: Krav/Weight training on same day…

    quote garddawg:

A very good book to get is “Starting Strength” by Mark Rippetoe. It will give you a excellent description of the basic lifts, as well as simple programming.

I agree. I’m doing the Rippetoe workout right now. And not on Krav days.

Re: Minimum time in before taking L1 test

I train at Self Defense Texas. It’s run by Ryan Hardy. I go to their Riata location usually and hit Pflugerville as make up classes.

If you’ve been gone for some time, there apparently was a split here with the south locations going one way and the north ones ending up in my school. My school is moving however, but I think it’s just going a little way’s up I35.

    Re: Home work

A jump rope might also help w/ the cardio. I also second the bag thing if you have the space.
