SexyBaldman: I haven’t seen pants bigger than 2XL, but the black shirt w/ the white logo definitely comes in 3XL. Have your school contact Todd Trautwein at 800-767-8288 x113 to get an updated core item order list; it’s possible they’re working from the old list. (this year was the first time I’ve seen 3XL) Feel free to e-mail me if you continue to have problems finding the shirt.
silcvalkrav: The new seasonal items (including shorts, sleeveless shirts, etc.) came out this month and if you can’t get them directly from your school, you can order them online here:

quote \”Psyops\:often times the need for throwing the kick was caused by the studen improperly using another technique and the spin kick is a \”bail out\”.I’m not sure if I understand where you’re coming from with this argument – if I’m being attacked (or even if I’m sparring in class) and I do something improperly, why would I not want to do whatever I could to get back to a better position? I’m not necessarily trying to argue with you, because it’s very obvious that you have your (strong) opinions, I just don’t get the logic with this particular statement. If one of my students completely and totally screws up, I’d rather them do SOMETHING, even if it’s the \”wrong\” thing to get back into the fight. I’d be way more likely to \”punish\” them for giving up or doing nothing in that situation than for coming up with a way to recover.

May 5, 2006 at 9:41 pm #46574nancypantsMemberThat’s how we do it as well. Our students either have to be in Level 2 (or higher) or get permission from the instructor to attend.

This past weekend, I had the honor of working with John, Kelly and Jonathan, as well as fourteen other new instructors from across the country. It was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life and I can genuinely say that I would not have succeeded without the support of each and every one of those people. I am proud to be a part of this organization and what it stands for – it has truly been a life-changing experience for me and I hope that it continues to be a life-changing experience for my students.
To John and Kelly and Jonathan – thanks from the bottom of my heart. 🙂

April 17, 2006 at 6:24 pm #46205nancypantsMemberHi Todd –
When KickSport shut down in October, we were forced to relocate the program. Please see our updated information here:

They have to be snug enough to not move around, but they’re reasonably good for class because they don’t get in the way like big strap-on pads do. I used them for a while and then just decided that they were too much trouble, but mine were something like this:

I’ve also found that after a while, you just stop getting bruises. YMMV.
March 17, 2006 at 3:57 pm #45545nancypantsMemberWell, it’s 7:00 am somewhere in the world… 🙂
I actually feel like there’s no better way to start your day, even if I *do* hate myself briefly when the alarm goes off.
March 10, 2006 at 8:32 pm #45429nancypantsMemberThis page:
http://apfri.carlisle.army.mil/web/Publications/Executive_Health_and_Fitness_chapter_7.pdf
has a few abdominal/back suggestions in it if you scroll down to page 10 (Spinal Stabilization). It actually has some pretty good information in it overall – it’s part of an article and the chapter title is ‘Injury Control for Physically Active Men and Women’ put out by the Army Physical Fitness Research Institute. The entire article can be found here:

March 7, 2006 at 3:52 pm #45342nancypantsMemberWe have morning classes six days a week:

We added the morning classes to our schedule last October and it seems to me that we might even have more people in the mornings than the evenings now.

quote \”Giantkiller\:I’m not saying whether or not that’s a good or bad thing to do, but I could imagine that plenty of people, having been trained in KM or not, would probably be inclined to do that. There is absolutely zero percent chance that I would even consider that as an option. If I couldn’t get the license plate number from a safe distance, I would call the police and report the incident, but I certainly wouldn’t put myself closer to someone that obviously has a few screws loose. Even if you told me that there was a 1/1,000,000 chance that the person in the other car had a gun, I *still* wouldn’t confront him, even in a \”non-aggressive\” manner. It’s playing russian roulette with your life and quality of life, and that just goes COMPLETELY counter to my natural instincts AND anything that I’ve learned. Choosing whether or not to carry insurance on your car is a completely separate issue – the issue here (to me) is confrontation and when/if it’s appropriate.
February 22, 2006 at 11:16 pm #45007nancypantsMemberGiantkiller: Don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s hard for me to muster up a whole lot of sympathy, seeing as how you get to train at the National Training Center and thus have a heck of a lot more classes, instructors, and opportunities than most of us in other parts of the country could even dream of. I would do just about anything (except relocate, obviously) for the opportunity to train where you train. 🙂
