Andrei Arlovski trains BJJ at ìPOWî. He is not in a Krav Maga class. They have many different types of classes there. Its kind of funny I saw one of the head instructors on TV doing a demo, showing Krav Maga techniques and saying it was her self defense class without ever mentioning Krav Maga or wearing the clothes. Its as if she invented this new system.

I trained for a year and a half with George at Ultimate Martial Arts. George is the real deal; He was a full contact fighter. He was also a bouncer for sometime. Plus the Special Forces were he was first introduced to Krav Maga from the Israeliís. When George says something works or does not work you can believe it because he has done it. I have a son who is 17 and two daughters 21 and 19 we have all trained for 10 years, in karate and all agree that George is by far the best and most fun instructor we have ever trained with for many reasons. To pass on a chance to train with George to go another school in Chicago area would be a BIG mistake. I am not saying he is the toughest or the best instructor, thatís what makes Krav Maga so great, once you know the move you can teach the move, its that simple.
In my opinion the school is very expensive. I have not resigned up because of a few small injuries. The price just makes it prohibitive unless I know I will be able to attend at least two classes a week. My year contract expired 1 day before the lvl 2 test; if my son and I passed we would have been lvl 3ís. The owner of the school would not let us test unless I resigned at that time. Bummer
    I truly miss the class

I am sorry I have not checked back to this topic for a while. I honestly was surprised their where more messages after the book Krav Maga: An Essential Guide to the Renowned Method–for Fitness and Self-Defense by David Khan was suggested. Like I said in my first post I had an injury. Pulled a muscle in my lower ab that is slowly getting better, after just 7 months. I am 53 yrs old; things just take time to heel. Just now starting to do a few sit-ups. I bought this book and truly enjoy it. The book might not be the best martial art book out there according to all. Everything is debatable, but it was defiantly what I was looking for. The book just keeps me wanting more.
I was excited to see Mr. John Whitman had a reply to my post and I was very happy to here about the new book.
One last comment. I have now been out of Krav Maga for about 6 months and I have some fear about returning. The classes that I attended were very tough, as most of you know. I have been working out on my own; other than my abs, I am in pretty good shape. I just have some fear about going to class again.

Or another question. Does the cd follow the different lvlís? Is there anything I can purchase that follows all the different lvlís? For instance the hair-grabs in lvl 3

Regarding getting into shape. I think the class will do it for you. Just keep going, the class should not get easier, but you will notice that youíre doing better all the time. My instructor asks the class all the time. Do you want to go easier or harder? lol and in everyoneís mind were saying ìoh my godî!!!! lol, and then we all say harder sir, lol

Diego Sanchez vs Nick Diez I got tired just watching this fight. This was a fight that should have gone 5 rounds not 3. Both fighters are in amazing shape; they did not stop at anytime. I thought it was one of the best fights I have ever seen. Both fighters are pretty cocky, I enjoy seeing the fighters congratulate each other after a fight, just like after a class.

Warming up for a basketball game. A friend of mine comes at me like he wants to play spare with me. He throws a right cross which I intercept and deflect with my left and at the same time punch right past his left ear hard and follow with a right round house and slightly touch his left knee. Then I stepped back a couple of feet. As heís still bouncing his head like were still fighting. I had to explain to him how that fight had gone for him. When I gave him the blow by blow, how the fight went for him his expression changed from fun to deep thought to nodding his head yes, ya you did just kick my ass. I then smiled and nodded yes
So I have used Krav Maga for fun. But I have also have had dreams were Iím using Krav Maga for defense. Is that a little weird or what?

2nd video – \”when you come to shoot, shoot\” I think thats the quote from The good the bad and the ugly. When you come to fight. fight. The loser was there to talk

I agree with CLFMak. I like to wear km shirts outside because I enjoy the conversations it starts. I have never feared or believed that because I am wearing a logo someone would want to start a fight with me. I truly enjoy talking about martial arts and what other people think about it

The Krav Maga class I attend, I would have to say at least 25% or more of the students are black belts in another martial art. I think the instructor said there was something like 30 black belts from some other martial art. So I would have to say many do cross train. I know I do.
To answer your second question. I personally believe Krav Maga is the best real fight situation class one can attend. If you have seen Ultimate fighter on Spike T.V. We do pretty much the same workout they do. Except they do all day. We do an hour. And if I may say a very, very tough hour at that.

I have been in krav maga for 16 month and karate for 10 years. Never been punched in mouth. If it was me, id put some wax on the braces before class, just in case. Ask your orthodontist they should have something for you

\”Boy I can’t imagine what I’m capable of doing now with my additional background (Muay Thai/Jujitsu/JKD/FMA/Combatives/Lae Enforcement DT) have I been in those situations back then.\”
Hopefully you will find out that you don’t need to fight. If you know you can beat someone up. Why fight them? Just back out if you can. No need to hurt someone just to prove you can.
