    Re: Toe Injury

    Hello,
Give it time man, some pain is ok to work through but things need to heal. I’ve always taken time to let some healing take place and never regreted it. Just comming off a short break after tearing the nail off my big toe (not fun). I know it’s tough not to train, but it’s better for you in the long run. If it’s just a toe, avoid the stuff that hurts it directly, if it’s a break try to protect it for at least a few weeks.

    Re: Why Krav?

Well it’s been 16 months since i started and i’m still going and still loving it. I feel i’ve learned alot and gained alot of confidence and control. Not to mention i’m in far better shape. I can honestly say i hope im never in another situation like the one that led me to Krav, but i can also say that if i am i will handle it well thanks to having made the decision to train.

Re: Months-old hand injury healed by skiing?!

I had a similar injury from kick defenses, at first I thought it was the wrist but after alot of probing and massageing i found it was linked to muscle/tendon along the the outside blade of my forearm (even though the place it was hurting was wrist and side of palm). I just kept massageing every day and after a couple weeks it was all gone. But after rereading this if it happens again im going strieght for the ice see if that works better.

Re: Is Rank Important to You?

At my school we dont have and belt/rank/level system and that works fine for me. I’ve been going for a year and I’m still learning new stuff all the time. Our instructor knows whos been there longer and when he’s going around giving tips and correcting he will give the more experienced ways to push the drills to the next level. And in the fight class we work on the more advanced/intense material. The downside i guess would be a lack goals for people who need/want that, may be difficult for some to visualize thier progress, and kinda creates a hectic learning pattern as there is no set curiculum per se. I personally like it this way.

Re: How often do you get hurt in class

It hurts to swallow today (choke defense) and I got bruises after every class, got a good 3in one with all the pretty colours on my right upper arm. With the exception of a broken rib shortly after i started the injuries are all minor and i wear em with pride.

    Re: One Year!!

Well the school I’m at doesnt really follow any belt/phase/level plan, which is actually exactly how I like it. Please understand I’m not making any judgement calls here, just this way works for me. So I cant comment on L-1 and all I can tell you about my progress is that I have improved alot. I’m close to the best shape of my life and I was an athlete in high school. I have alot more confidence in my ability to defend myself and others. Unlike other martial arts/self defense stuff I have seen or participated in Krav puts you in the mix and you come out feeling tested and like a warrior. As for the name my name is Jason, Silas is a nickname i picked up in high school, not even sure where it came from but it stuck. Stick with Krav you won’t be disappointed and what you learn will be practical, proven to work, and something you can take pride and confidence in.

    Re: One Year!!

As far as Krav goes? Nope don’t think so, got injured once but that was just an accident and I healed quick enough.

Re: Skateboarder Beats down ‘innocent’ Gunman

I have little love for gangbangers in general and no respect for anyone who goes around starting trouble with a gun. Huge props to the kid who kicked his *ss he remained calm and tried to walk away and only got into it when the guy pointed the gun at his friend. Gunman got what he deserved, and should have got more.

Re: This is why KM is important!

First off thank you for posting this i went to class with new found motivation, and i spent 30 minutes with my instructor working only this choke, i feel a little better. This choke is scary if the other guy knows what he is doing, you only have seconds to make the right choice. We worked 2 defenses standing and 1 additional for on the ground, and it seems the most critical part is reacting quickly to stop the choke it got real difficult real quick if i started after he already locked in. maybe tomarrow i’ll try to describe the defenses but im not so good at it and im sure one of the instructors here would do a much better job.

Wow is my neck/throat sore today.

    Re: How Men See Us

There are usually 3 points during a class when i notice an attractive girl. Before class gets going “Wow, nice”. Half way through class, “OMG cute girl just keeps going, must..keep..moving… gasp” And after class, “Damn, cute girl is still standing, someone help me up.”

Re: Confused on Possible New School

Definately not at my school, it’s primaraly a Karate school and the instructor has 20something years in Karate and some professional kickboxing. Certainly there are probably some influences on the Krav class but Krav is Krav there and not just an intro to karate or a karate/krav hybrid.
