Re: Happy New Year Y’all!!
My reply is belated, but 19 years? You must have been a child bride! Haven’t seen you forever, since I do the daytime classes. Kili wasn’t enough for me–I’m off to Nepal to climb up to Everest base camp next month. I believe I’m in better shape this year than last.

Jeff: I am giving consideration to doing some private training. I may return to self-defense doing that. Thanks for the idea.

MJ, congrats to you and John. I know how hard you worked thru all the setbacks and delays BTW, Henry instructed today in one of the hardest KO workouts I have had. I think he is no longer anyones’s friend in any workouts. BUT, he seems to keep an eye on me and if he thinks something is wrong, he is right there.
I guess you wont want to associate with some lowly lower level like me anymore!!

quote Coda Vex:Couldn’t you just get some of that sticker paper they have for printers and make your own from photoshop or something?Yes, I could, if I wasn’t so lazy and if I was curious enough to learn photoshop. But since I would rather spend my time working out, I just ordered one and now have it installed on my H2. Thanks for your suggestion though.
And thanks to all for your replies. I got the decal at shadowmajik.com.
As to the efficacy of sporting a decal, thats another story. I normally avoid decals, preferring a low profile, but my pride in being a KM praticioner won out!!

I like subcompacts and prefer those with no external safeties (left handed, I am). I own glocks 26, 30, and 39(which I won at a Glock shoot), and a Ruger LCP. I did own a KelTec P380, but after sending it back to the factory twice, I never trusted that gun. I have never been a long gun shooter, but I recently purchased a Saiga 12, and added a 15 round mag, collapsable stock and pistol grip. I now have to learn the ins and outs of using a shotgun for home defense.

quote mara_jade:I think our first Cardio class with Leslie – 10 minutes into it hubby and I were like ‘WTF did we get ourselves into??’rofl2Over 5 years later, we’ve never regretted our decisionthumbsup
MJ: I think that I was there just a few days after you in Leslie’s KM1 class. I was hooked after the first class. I’ve started taking daytime classes and spending evenings at home–helps keep my 47 year marriage on track.

Nice post, and thanks for mentioning the wounded. As an old , retired GI, I periodically train in the Fort Sam Houston fitness center just so I can be around these troops. I get a big uplift from their positive attitude and politeness. There is no quit in these folks.

I have been using GAKIC off and on for quite a while, and it certainly improves my stamina. However, the new “hardcore” version contains stimulants which keep me amped up long after the training session is over. I”m experimenting with the dosage in an attempt to eliminate this.

Turned 70 on Thanksgiving. I really like this stuff although I now limit most of my efforts to level one and fitness classes. I’m convinced that those techniques will help get me out of trouble if necessary.

Soft opening (per Pete) was Dec. 29th. What a great place and a great way to end ’08. As one (along with MJ and her hubby) who started shortly after the old place was opened, I can honestly say I made a great decision to get involved with KM. The new place is undergoing finishing touches, and the level of excitement by students and instructors alike was awesome on the 29th. MJ was there ready to rumble.

I have encountered docs who are suspicious of senior abuse (I just turned 70, and bruise easily). I tell them about Krav Maga, and suggest they take an orientation class. On occasion, I am offered a referral to a mental health practitioner. Hah!

Hey, MJ, when is this seminar? I guess I’ll have to get my butt off the sick, lame, and lazy list, and sign up.

A thought from someone who has been married 46 years…If a man will admit to his wife that he sometimes does stupid things, he can get away with a lot of neat stuff. I find it works like a champ.

Actually, those moves were developed by Davy, Jim, and company at the defense of the Alamo, and smuggled out secretly so they could be resurrected at a later time and place.

I just read about the “no-billing” in the Los Angeles Times. According to the LA Times article, a plainclothes police officer was allegedly a witness, and he testified that he saw the two lunge toward the shooter. I’m sure the Harris County DA wasn’t excited, because his office isn’t a big proponent of self-help. Hope it gives the Angelinos pause to appreciate what they missing. BTW, this wasn’t the first crime these two had committed–they were ILLEGALS from Colombia.
